Welcome
to the Portsdown U3A Genealogy Page
|
 |
|
| | | | - Our
Friendly group meets on the first Thursday of each month (except for
August) from 2 - 4pm at the Group Leader's house. Tea, coffee and
biscuits are provided.
- At each meeting we endeavour to
discuss a different topic. Each month lively discussions are usually
held on various aspects of Genealogy. Members bring in any interesting
facts they have found since the last meeting.
- Our members range from total beginners to more experienced family historians and therefore everyone's input is most welcome.
- A computer is avaiable with Ancestry.co.uk (the
premier web site for genealogists ), and also other useful websites
where members can investigate census, military, birth, marriage, and ,
deaths, immigration, maps, and wills.
- Visits are often
arranged to County Record Offices, Libraries, and in the Spring
of 2012 we plan to visit The National Archives at Kew.
Therefore
if you want to find out more about your own family and the way they
lived, worked and socialised you would be made most welcome to join our
group. | |
