PortsdownU3A– Lifelong learning for those no longer in full time employment

At the University of the Third Age, our main aim is to enable older people, who are no longer in full-time employment, to explore new interests in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. In our Interest or Subject Groups, we learn from each other. Our range is broad: we now have over 20 groups!

Portsdown U3A covers the North of the city of Portsmouth, although we welcome all comers! We hold General Meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of each month (except August) at 2pm in the Cosham Baptist Church, Havant Road, Cosham. A speaker’s presentation is followed by a chance to meet other members and to have a cup of tea.

Visitors are very welcome at General Meetings, on payment of a £2 charge. Our annual fee is really good value at £16: you can join as many Interest Groups as you wish! We are always on the look out for new members who are willing to start new groups in subjects that interest them.

We are pleased to welcome you to our website and hope to see you at one of our meetings!

We are using a system called Beacon to hold all our members data securely in one place.

BEACON provides a comprehensive set of tools for handling membership, new members, renewals, subscriptions, address changes and email communications. In addition BEACON provides Group Leaders with membership management and easy communication with group members.

A new BEACON feature is being introduced where each member will have access only to their own secure data, meaning that they will be able to check that the data we hold is correct and will also be able to make amendments as appropriate eg: to keep their address and phone numbers current.

You can access your personal secure BEACON data by selecting Members Portal
